In memory of Granddad

We lost an amazing man today. I noticed as I kissed his face and his forehead Sunday, he was so tired. Granddad has lived an extraordinary life--not because of the places he's traveled or his fame or fortune, but because he infused joy into every life he came close to. His goal, he told us once, was to make every person he came into contact with smile, whether it be a family member, a gas station attendant, or a waitress at his favorite restaurant. Michael adored this man and looked up to him, desiring to live his life in a way that emulated Granddad. It's hard to put a finger on the countless things we've learned from him, but to love others unconditionally is at the top of the list.

An amazing man indeed, Michael, and you are so like him. We are very lucky to have met him and to have been able to enjoy his conversations and stories. Mom H
