Happy Retirement, Mom!

We had a fantastic weekend trip to Corpus Christi to celebrate Mom's retirement from the school district and Father's Day. Our family got there on Thursday and headed to the Texas State Aquarium and then out to the city beach for awhile. On Friday morning we went for a walk and saw a ton of jackrabbits, prairie dogs, and all kinds of birds. Once Mom and Grandma got into town we headed to the pool for some fun, then out to eat mexican food. Mark, Denise, and Isaac got there late that night. On Saturday we went to Port Aransas for a day at the beach-- boogie boarding, playing in the sand, eating ice cream, etc. Despite many applications of sunscreen, I was the only one who was significantly burned. We met up with Mr. and Mrs. Valdez (Denise's parents) in the evening for dinner at Snoopy's and an evening enjoying dessert by the playground at the hotel. Mr. Valdez and Mark led a fishing expedition early Sunday morning, which was definitely a hit! The kids all were able to catch some fish (Brian and Hannah definitely had some big help from Uncle Mark) and Christian and Isaac fed some to a friendly pelican that was hanging out on the pier. Happy retirement, Mom! This is just the beginning of all the fun you'll have!
