31 JUL quick morning update

We thought we'd update again right quick this morning while we have free internet in our hotel room. Hannah Li woke up this morning and started clapping and waving her hands over her head and playing with her ears. We were so excited we were almost crying! Thank you, God! She ate a huge breakfast--two big bowls of congee and a bowl of fried rice with some hot milk to make it soupier. All the while Brian was playing guns with his chopsticks. The kids have made amazing progress with the chopsticks. Funny how that happens when there's no other way to eat!

Nancy, Michael and Family,

Lori forwarded the link to your blog, and I've been reading it with interest, concern, joy, etc. I talked to Michael's mom and dad at church last night and said I felt certain that your next entry would be more positive. It is just such a huge shake-up in the little one's world that they shut down for a while. It is natural, but very hard on the parents. Glad things are better, glad you found out about the hot, hot milk (it almost seems cruel to us to make it that hot), glad Nancy is feeling better. They probably told you this, but the Chinese formula is much sweeter than U.S. You might want to bring a few bags home with you to transition her onto U.S. formula slowly. Still praying.
