We've had a great start to our Roman Holiday! Had a nice stop at the Philadelphia USO--Christian ate 3 hot dogs there, UGH! Walked around yesterday just getting a feel for things and happened upon some beautiful churches, the Tiber River, Castle D'Angelo with a statue of Archangel Michael on top sheathing his sword, a statue of Neptune with a bird perched on top of his head, an obelisk that Augustus brought from Egypt 3,000 years ago. Wow! All that from a stroll around the neighborhood. Lunch was fantastic at a small pizza place where we stood up and had some of the freshest pizza I've ever eaten, topped off by gelato. Dinner was homemade pasta at a rooftop restaurant.

Any Latin for Christian to practice with? Also, wondering if you find the caramel macchiatos better than Ethiopia?

It was so neat to see you all in Rome and all the things you are about to explore in depth. Can you just imagine how much older their history is than that of the US? Pizza and gelato--can't beat it! Love, Gammy
