Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit

Yesterday we had a luncheon to attend for the cleft palate team, so we decided go to a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit at a museum nearby afterwards. Christian quickly spotted a museum employee who had helped put the exhibit together and made her his personal tour guide. He convinced her to unlock the locks on every exhibit and let him try them out. They had some pretty cool stuff--a wooden tank, a machine gun (Christian has his serious face on for this one), several unsuccessful flying machines, a saw, a water wheel, and many more.

(from the kids) Christian said his favorite part was the catapults, where you could fire ping pong balls at a castle. "A lot of Da Vinci's machines never worked because he didn't have the right materials. A lot of our stuff today is based off of his creations (like the bicycle and the plane). I made a great boat passage in a body of water and it worked awesome."

Faith liked an area of the museum where they had a pretend city. You could drive little cars around, plant vegetables, cook in a kitchen, mail letters, recycle, and go shopping. "I helped Christian make the water passage a little bit. I loved looking at the houses outside the museum. There was a school, a general store, a law office, a hotel, a farm, a couple of houses, a church, and a stable where there was two carriages with barrels of stuff in them. The food at the luncheon was very good (from Mom--it was pizza and cookies!). A few of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions needed oil, so we couldn't use them."
