Vacation to San Antonio
All right, this weekend happened to fall the very next weekend after we went to Corpus, but we had this one planned out some time ago. Michael was on leave for the week and we visited San Antonio for a few nights.
We started the trip the day after Michael went to the Austin city Limits music festival (a full 12 hours of live music with a friend from work--his dream!) by driving to SeaWorld, where we got in for free (they have a special deal for the military). We stayed at the Hyatt on the Riverwalk (another great deal, thanks to the military), which was really cool. The next morning, we went to the Botanical Gardens--Faith was thrilled to see they had a Dora and Diego exhibit up--then in the afternoon to the Alamo. Again, Christian asked his usual huge number of questions after the history talk. I love this kind of homeschooling! I don't have to do anything and he's learning all kinds of good stuff. They, quite literally, had to shoo us out of the Alamo at closing time.
We had a relaxed morning at the hotel pool on top of the building the next morning, followed in the afternoon by a trip to the Witte Museum. We were able to fit in a boat ride down the river, along the Riverwalk, right after dinner one night. And, of course, what vacation would be complete without the obligatory visit to the ice cream shop?? This seems to be a necessary part of all vacations for us!
